The Gunyah Ski Club Ltd was established in 1961 with the objective to “encourage develop and promote snow sports, skiing, ski touring and other athletic sports” enshrined in the Articles of Association. Generations of members, their families and guests have learnt to ski or board with many competing successfully in annual Interschool competitions and other Perisher races.
The name Gunyah originates from an Aboriginal word for “hut or shelter." True to its name, the Gunyah Ski Club proudly owns and operates a 20-bed ski lodge nestled in the picturesque Perisher Valley, NSW. The lodge stands on land leased from the National Parks and Wildlife Service. This lease is valid until 2028, with the potential for extension through three 10-year options, taking it up to 2058.
The lodge was originally constructed in 1961 with a membership base of 100. In 1990, the club expanded, welcoming an additional 10 members as part of a major renovation and upgrade, enhancing the lodge's facilities and preserving its legacy for future generations. Each member is both a shareholder and an integral part of the club’s history. As owners, everyone has a shared responsibility and a vested interest in the club's operations.
Ideally situated just 100 meters from key amenities like the Skitube, supermarket, oversnow transport, pharmacy and medical centre, as well as the ever popular Man From Snowy River Hotel. The lodge is also a 300-meter stroll to the popular Front Valley, perfectly positioning it for ski and boarding enthusiasts.
